Chasing flowers

Finding beauty in the ordinary also means marvelling at nature’s wonders, and when you can’t travel to the other side of the world to discover something completely new and extraordinary, well you just have to find that little bit of magic in your everyday life.

This is even more true now that travelling is… complicated, to say the least. This is what local adventures are about for me, even when there is no pandemic: making an adventure out of pretty much anything. It can be for an afternoon or just a few hours, it can be a new hike or walk in your area, taking pictures of a flower field, discovering a small town next to your city, or even just going to a museum 5 minutes away from your home.

Well, in spring most of my local adventures were about flowers, and I have already talked about going to the bluebell forest a few weeks ago, for instance. Another time, I went with a friend of mine to a beautiful street close to my place which has, every spring, the most beautiful Japanese cherry trees, and for a few weeks each year, this street becomes the most beautiful one in Brussels.

After that, I pretty much leaned in to it and took pictures of flowers every time I saw a beautiful rose bush or colourful tree, decorating my balcony with cute flowers and plants, and buying nice bouquets to brighten up my flat.

When I walk around Brussels I sometimes pass by these huge trees (or bushes?) with so many flowers that just smell heavenly and I can definitely imagine myself growing one of these in my future house with a garden… One can always dream right? 😄

Do you also take pictures of flowers every time you see some?
What is your favourite flower?

Where was your latest local adventure?
