In last month’s review I said that July was going to be the month of local adventures and of exploring Brussels a bit more… How far from reality that was! I’ve never seen such an awful weather in the month of July, which is really discouraging for local adventures!
My favourite things about this month:
- Skincare: throughout the month I have really been looking forward to my morning or evening skincare routine. Maybe I felt like my skin needed it more than usual, or maybe I was in a rush to finish my products and start new ones!
- Plants: while taking care of my skin I also took great pleasure this month in taking care of my plants, buying new pots and changing their soil. I wouldn’t say I’m an accomplished plant-mum, as half of my babies are not looking so great, but I’m getting there!
- Pizza night with my flatmates: I did many things with my flatmates this month, and one of them was making home-made pizza (including home-made dough), and it was a success! We had done it already a few months ago and, on top of being delicious, it was such a fun process!
My latest trips and adventures
- There haven’t been many, sadly, as it seems that the weather decided to be especially bad at the weekend. However, with the warmer temperatures and easing of the lockdown, many bars and cafes have reopened, which allowed for nice evenings in the park or in the centre.
- I am, again, on holidays in Rome! I am not here as a tourist, as I already know the city quite well, but it is still a change from my routine. I am, as always in Italy, eating much more than usual but enjoying the time with my family!
Hobbies and distractions:
- A cinema in the centre reopened recently, and it was possible to see a huge variety of famous movies from some years ago. I decided to go see Interstellar with a friend, as I had wanted to see it for a very long time – this was the perfect occasion and I loved it! I’m actually really glad I saw it at the cinema as the pictures are beautiful and it is such a fascinating topic! Have you seen it?
- I have recently started reading Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. I saw the movie a few years ago and fell in love with the plot, the characters and the concept behind it, so I was super excited to finally read the book. I am currently half way through it, and it hasn’t disappointed so far. I might even do a review of it when I’ve finished it!
General thoughts:
As I said at the beginning of this post, I haven’t felt particularly productive this month, and I didn’t do many of the things I said to myself I would. However, despite the surprisingly big amount of work I had, I managed to distract myself and enjoy the summer, despite the rain.
Looking forward to:
- Summer adventures and activities: this time I hope again that I will go on more local adventures and explore the city during one of the best months of the year. I might need to plan things out a bit but I hope this time will be more successful!
- Holidays in the South of France: Right after my holidays in Italy I will go to the South of France to see the other part of my family in the countryside! I can’t wait to have some relaxing days, reading with only the sound of cicadas in the background!
