Local Adventure: Visiting Manosque

Manosque is a pretty town located in the stunning French region of Provence. It is famous because the French author Jean Giono was born and lived there, and most of his books are set in the South of France.

I visited it not too long ago, when I was back home. As I spend most of my days working from home, I was in need of a change of scenery. I live in a very small town in Provence where nothing really happens. However, the nature around is beautiful and a lot of charming little towns are scattered around, which is perfect to go on local adventures! I decided that I wanted to see Manosque because it is only a short drive away and I had never seen it before.

After a 30-minute drive we were there, and as it was lunch time, we were also hungry. We stopped at a restaurant to eat delicious food in a wonderful square. The atmosphere was really nice as it was starting to get warm , so everyone was eating outside and a fresh breeze was blowing – the perfect setting for a chilled early afternoon.

After lunch, we went on a very pleasant walk around the historic centre of town, through nice little streets, stopping in front of cute shops and visiting some churches. From time to time you can smell a lovely lavender fragrance coming out of a soap or souvenir shop, or hear little bits of daily life coming out of the windows left open to let the breeze flow in.

And this is it! I am so glad I finally saw this pretty town, and had a lovely afternoon strolling around. As I have explained in my first post about Local Adventures, I love how you get a nice break from your daily life without having to spend too much time for it.
